Position Overview
The Sterilization Technician (Sterile Tech) reports directly to the Assistant Team Leader. The primary mission is to manage the sterilization area efficiently, ensuring all instruments meet OSHA standards. This role balances rigorous clinical safety with inventory management, equipment maintenance, and clinical support to ensure seamless practice operations.
Key Accountabilities
1. Infection Control & Compliance
- Sterilization: Process and sterilize instruments rapidly following OSHA guidelines.
- Organization: Return clean instruments to their proper storage locations.
- Sanitation: Maintain clean, organized sterilization and clinical zones.
- Laundry: Manage the laundering of clinical attire.
2. Clinical Support & Patient Care
- Room Prep: Assist with setting up and breaking down treatment rooms.
- Chairside Assistance: Help doctors and hygienists with patient care as needed.
- Lab Work: Support clinical teams with basic dental laboratory duties.
- Administrative Prep: Print patient routers to streamline daily care schedules.
3. Supply & Financial Stewardship
- Inventory: Maintain optimal stock levels of dental supplies.
- Budgeting: Manage ordering to strictly align with the practice budget.
- Receiving: Unpack, verify, and properly organize incoming shipments.
4. Equipment Maintenance
- Routine Care: Perform scheduled maintenance on dental and sterilization equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Identify, log, and report equipment issues immediately
