Reports To: Director of Facilities

Status: 60-80 hours per two week pay period

Shift: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Job Schedule: TEMPORARY Summer position

Weekly Hours: 30-40 hours


Position Purpose:

Temporary seasonal position that will assist with maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the hospital grounds and exterior facilities.

  •  Mow, trim, and edge lawns.
  • ­ Weed flower beds, landscaped areas, and sidewalks.
  • ­ Water flowers, shrubs, trees, and other landscaping as needed.
  • ­ Pick up litter and empty outdoor trash receptacles.
  • ­ Assist with planting, mulching, and seasonal landscaping projects.
  • ­ Sweep sidewalks, parking lots, and building entrances.
  • ­ Clean outdoor furniture and public gathering areas.
  • ­ Assist with minor outdoor maintenance projects as assigned.
  • ­ Operate lawn mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment safely.
  • ­ Follow all HRMC safety policies and procedures.
  • ­ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • ­ Perform other duties as assigned. Assists in other areas of the building and grounds as directed.

Other Job Duties:

  • ­ Demonstrates understanding that patients, physicians, visitors, and other hospital staff are customers, and consistently seeks to exceed customers’ expectations.
  • ­ Has reviewed and complies with general hospital and departmental policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations including CMS/OIG corporate compliance regulations.
  • ­ Collaborates with co-workers, contractors, and staff to complete workload in a safe and efficient manner. Participates in hospital's quality, risk, and utilization plan.
  • ­ Promotes and maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients, families, health care personnel and the facility.
  • ­ Advises supervisor of supply needs and replenishes maintenance supplies in work area(s) as necessary. 
Requirements

  Qualifications: (Minimum Education and Experience)

  • ­ Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • ­ No previous experience required; training will be provided.
  • ­ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • ­ Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and dependable attendance.
  • ­ Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Current valid South Dakota driver’s license.
