For more than 54 years, Eckroth Music has helped students take the first step in their musical journey. Family-owned since 1972 and employee-owned through an ESOP, we are a regional school music dealer serving students across eight stores in North Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. We rent and sell instruments, support school music programs, and stand behind the educators and families who make music education possible. The Role

As our Accounts Payable Specialist, you will make sure the vendors and partners who help us serve students are paid accurately and on time, and you will be a friendly, dependable voice for our customers on the phone. You will work as a close partner to our Purchasing Manager, our accounting team, and our HR lead — a true team player in a business office where everyone pitches in. What You'll Do

• Enter and code vendor invoices, credit memos, and vendor changes, and reconcile costs on all purchase orders

• Communicate daily with receiving staff and partner closely with our Purchasing Manager to resolve vendor issues and discrepancies

• Prepare weekly check and ACH transactions, reconcile vendor statements, and contact vendors regarding invoices, credits, past dues, and returns

• Pay sales tax in applicable states, verify expense reports, and assist with the yearly audit

• Provide phone coverage for the business office — answering rental and lease contract calls, processing rental payments by phone, processing Maintenance and Repair contracts, and updating customer information

• Support the accounting team with recordkeeping and assist our HR lead with administrative support as needed

• Plan and implement procedures and systems to maximize efficiency, and cross-train in other office functions to help fill needs

What We're Looking For

• 2–5 years of Accounts Payable or general accounting experience, or 1+ years of experience paired with an associate's degree in accounting

• Wide range of computer skills, including accounting software and Microsoft Office (Windows, Word, and Excel preferred), with accurate keyboarding

• Ability to perform highly detailed work in an accurate manner with effective organizational and multitasking skills

• Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• A collaborative, service-first mindset with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality

• Availability to work onsite in Bismarck, ND, with flexibility for occasional weekend hours or weeks over 40 hours during busy seasons
