We have an opening for a Consumer Loan Processor - Underwriter at our headquarters in Arnold, MO.

The Loan Underwriter is responsible for assisting the credit union and its members in a consumer loan underwriting environment. This position will be responsible for mining/sourcing loan applications for opportunities to assist members and assisting with various administrative duties to support the Lending Department, including cross-training in sales and other areas as needed. The Loan Underwriter will be part of a team rotation for the queue approving indirect auto loans. The typical rotation for the queue is once a month, covering after-hours, which will be discussed in detail during the in-person interview.

What will you be responsible for?

• Delivering high-quality, consistent service to both internal and external members across multiple loan queues.
• Overseeing the underwriting loan queue process and applications across multiple loan queues.
• Sourcing member credit bureaus to look for opportunities to improve members' financial situation.
• Carrying out various clerical duties and necessary daily processing tasks to support management, including but not limited to processing title applications and notices of liens, debt protection inquiries, claims, remittance of premiums, and payment posting, GAP, and vehicle service contract remittance, loan payoffs, and title releases, etc.
• Loan tracking and review for compliance audits.
• Taking an active role in the development, documentation, and ongoing maintenance of underwriting policies and procedures, updating or creating procedural documentation as needed for regulatory compliance or product changes.

What skills does this position require?

• Requires a high school diploma, some college preferred
• Minimum 3 – 5 years' experience, including extensive experience with loan documentation and underwriting
• Excellent computer proficiency - Excel, Word, Windows, Outlook
• Exceptional skills in credit mining and looking for loan solutions for members
• Strong attention to detail
• Solid communication, analytical, and organizational skills required
• Thorough knowledge of financial and operational functions
• Working knowledge of applicable lending regulations
• Must have NMLS and Notary Public (or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire)
