Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and physician-focused Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our growing orthopedic sub-specialty medical practice. The CEO will provide executive leadership and operational oversight for all aspects of the organization, partnering closely with physician shareholders and the executive leadership team to drive growth, operational excellence, financial performance, and an exceptional patient experience. This executive will be responsible for executing the organization's strategic vision while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and service excellence. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in physician practice management, orthopedic or surgical specialties, healthcare finance, and multi-site operations.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

· Collaborate with physician owners and executive team to develop and execute the organization's strategic plan.

· Identify opportunities for practice growth, service line expansion, acquisitions, and new business ventures.

· Lead organizational change initiatives that improve operational efficiency and patient access.

· Develop long-term business strategies that strengthen market position and financial sustainability.

Operational Leadership

· Provide executive oversight of all clinical and administrative operations across multiple practice locations.

· Ensure efficient daily operations while maintaining exceptional standards of patient care and customer service.

· Establish operational metrics and accountability measures across all departments.

· Drive continuous process improvement and operational excellence throughout the organization.

Financial Management

· Direct annual budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and capital investments.

· Monitor financial performance, productivity, revenue cycle, and expense management.

· Improve physician productivity and organizational profitability while maintaining quality of care.

· Evaluate business opportunities through financial analysis and return-on-investment modeling.

· Ensure strong internal controls and financial reporting.

Physician Partnership

· Build trusted relationships with physician shareholders and providers.

· Support physician recruitment, onboarding, retention, and leadership development.

· Align operational initiatives with physician goals and organizational priorities.

· Facilitate effective communication between physicians, leadership, and staff.

Human Resources & Culture

· Foster a positive, high-performing, and accountable organizational culture.

· Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain exceptional leadership talent.

· Promote employee engagement, professional development, and succession planning.

· Ensure performance management systems are aligned with organizational objectives.

Compliance & Risk Management

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.

· Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CMS, Medicare, commercial payer requirements, and applicable accreditation standards.

· Oversee legal, compliance, risk management, and corporate governance initiatives.

· Implement policies that support quality, patient safety, and regulatory excellence.

Business Development

· Strengthen relationships with hospitals, health systems, employers, payers, and referral partners.

· Identify new partnership opportunities and negotiate strategic agreements.

· Develop marketing and outreach strategies that increase patient volume and market share.

· Represent the organization within the healthcare community and industry associations.

Quality & Patient Experience

· Champion a culture centered on exceptional patient care and clinical excellence.

· Monitor patient satisfaction, quality metrics, and operational performance indicators.

· Lead initiatives that improve access, efficiency, patient outcomes, and overall experience.


Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.

· Master's degree (MBA or MHA) preferred.

· Minimum of 10 years of progressive executive healthcare leadership experience.

· Minimum of 5 years leading a multi-provider physician practice, orthopedic practice, ambulatory surgery center, or healthcare organization.

· Demonstrated success managing budgets, financial performance, physician relations, and organizational growth.

· Strong knowledge of physician practice operations, revenue cycle management, healthcare reimbursement, compliance, and healthcare regulations.

· Experience within orthopedic, musculoskeletal, spine, sports medicine, pain management, or surgical specialty practices.

· Experience leading independent physician-owned medical groups.
