Description
The Area Manager – Trucking Operations:
Oversee truck logistics and driver personnel in their assigned market/territory. Responsible for the performance of the drivers and dispatch for the area.
Essential Duties
- Determines daily route structure for each driver to maximize safety
- Manages the dispatch team for the area
- Serves as the primary troubleshooter when operational driver problems occur
- Continually monitors hauled products for quality control
- Develop employee schedules based on company guidelines that ensure each employee is productive while at work, taking into account days off, sick days, holidays, etc.
- Responsible for employee retention within the region
- Provides day-to-day supervision of employees in the respective area of responsibility
- Maintain equipment maintenance schedules and develop relations with maintenance and tank shops
- Manage safety functions directed by the Director of HSE. This includes but is not limited to:
- IPOs (Incident Prevention Observation)
- DORs (Driver Observation Report)
- DRAs (Driver Ride Alongs)
- Complete truck cleanliness reports
- Report any and gather incident statements for incidents, accidents, and injuries
- Any information system as it pertains to drivers
- Staffs, screens, interviews, and hires drivers for the market: fills out new hire form
- Manage daily and reconcile ELD conflicts
- Corrects time punches
- Review and submit timesheets
- Updates and Maintains journey plans for assigned region
- Provides PPE (personal protective equipment) and orders uniforms for employees
- Ensures new driver training is conducted correctly and documented
Requirements

- Will work closely with our dispatch team.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Excellent understanding of logistics
- Excellent understanding of the commercial driving industry
- Excellent understanding of both federal and state DOT laws
- Ability to lead employees and manage their day-to-day performance
- Ability to work closely with customers and provide excellent customer service
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Ability to use different computer systems to complete job duties
- Ability to appropriately prioritize multiple needs or demands and determine what should be escalated
- Ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining professionalism
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multitask
- Accessible by cell phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and able to respond to dispatch needs within a reasonable time
- Education and/or formal training
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred to have an active Commercial Driving License with Haz-Mat, Doubles / Triples, and Tanker Endorsements.
- Must be carded with refineries.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in logistics and commercial driving
- Other minimum experience someone must have to be considered and successful in this role
