Description

The New Hampshire Public Defender is a private, non-profit corporation that contracts with the Judicial Council to provide representation to indigent individuals charged with crimes. The Public Defender has ten regional offices and employs approximately 250 people. NHPD has a national reputation for high-quality representation of its clients.


Position Summary: The Director of Finance manages the business and financial operations of the program. This position works collaboratively with other program directors and members of the Board. The Director of Finance reports to the Executive Director and works out of the administrative offices, located in Concord. This is primarily an onsite position. Key responsibilities include organizational decision making, budgeting, strategic planning, and day-to-day management of all financial operations. This position directly supervises the accounting assistants on staff. 


Education and Experience Requirements

· A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business is required; a CPA and/or MBA is highly desired.

· A minimum of five years of nonprofit financial and operation management is required

· An advanced understanding of 501(c) organizations, and current nonprofit GAAP standards is required

·  

Knowledge, Ability, & Skills

· Extensive budget development and monitoring experience.

· Proven experience managing the quality and content of all financial and accounting data, reporting, and coordination of audits for an organization with annual budgets of $30 million or more.

· Ability to communicate, both written and verbally, at all levels throughout the program and with outside stakeholders.


Salary: $124,737
