The Pharmacist interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders. They shall also act as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff and ancillary department personnel. Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care by performing the related duties.
Education:
· Doctorate of Pharmacy degree preferred or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy.
· Graduate from accredited School of Pharmacy.
· Education in all age groups ranging from newborn to the geriatric population obtained either in school education, experience or subsequent training.
Experience:
· Minimum 1 year hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent.
· One year ASHP accredited hospital pharmacy residency or equivalent preferred.
· Management training or equivalent managerial experience preferred.
Specific Skills:
· Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
· Additional languages preferred.
· Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified
· Strong written and verbal skills.
· Basic computer knowledge.
· Automated pharmacy systems
· IV Laminar Flow Hood or Glove Box intravenous preparation
· Self-directed, motivated and capable of overseeing support personnel.
Computer Skills:
· Microsoft Word (required), Excel (required) and PowerPoint (preferred)
· Pyxis or other automated dispensing machines (preferred)
· Electronic Medical Record Experience (required)
Licenses: Current Pharmacist licensure in the State of Arizona
Certifications: Current BLS/CPR certification
