As the Sr. Accountant our dynamic and growing home services company specializing in HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical, you will oversee core accounting operations. Reporting to the Controller, you will manage payroll accounting, accounts payable and receivable, inventory and fixed assets functions, and ensure accurate month-end close and financial reporting. This role requires a strong accounting background, and the ability to deliver insights that drive sound financial decisions in a company with revenues of $70 million or more.

What We Do
We are a team of home service experts who go the extra mile to ensure peak performance for your home’s plumbing, heating and air conditioning and electrical systems.


Responsibilities:

  •  Month-End Close:
    • Lead, coordinate, and own the entire month-end close process, ensuring all journal entries and reconciliations are completed accurately and on schedule.
    • Review and finalize general ledger accounts, making necessary adjustments, and be ready to explain budget variances to Controller when reviewing the month-end package. 
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Assist the Controller in providing gross margin and other operational metrics to department leaders.
    • Ad-hoc reporting support for the General Manager and Directors of Sales and Operations, aiding the business in strategic decisions.
    • Work with the Payroll manager to review weekly payroll prior to submission. 
  • AP & AR Oversight:
    • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and issue resolution.
    • Monitor aging reports and support cash flow management.
  • Fixed Assets, Inventory & Job Costing (If Applicable):
    • Collaborate with operations and warehouse teams on inventory reconciliation and job costing to ensure accurate reporting.
Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including managing month-end close.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience supporting medium size businesses is a plus. 
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Sage preferred), and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with inventory reconciliation or job costing is a plus, including process improvement and optimizing efficiencies throughout all accounting functions.
