What You’ll Do:

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting Whisker's accounting and finance functions by ensuring timely, accurate, and reliable financial reporting. Working closely with the Controller and cross-functional business partners, this position will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, preparing account reconciliations and journal entries, supporting and optimizing the month-end close process, and helping ensure a clean balance sheet with no surprises.

This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and contributing to a fast-paced, high-growth environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and posts journal entries accurately and timely as part of the monthly financial close process.
  • Prepares and maintains balance sheet account reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items promptly.
  • Assists with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Performs variance analysis and investigates unusual fluctuations in financial results.
  • Prepares schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external financial reporting.
  • Supports annual financial statement audits and other audits by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor requests.
  • Assists with maintaining the general ledger and ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Assists with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiency.
  • Assists with ERP system improvements and other finance-related projects.
  • Maintains compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Performs other accounting and finance responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required..
  • At least 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close.
  • Strong understanding of balance sheet and income statement relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience owning balance sheet reconciliations and resolving accounting issues through to completion.
  • Comfortable working in the details while continually looking for opportunities to improve processes.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and accounting software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High degree of initiative with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and work in the details.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Comfortable with office pets (cats and dogs).

Not Required but Nice to Have!

  • CPA designation or active progress toward obtaining a CPA
  • Master's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with SAP Business One or similar ERP systems.
