About the Position:
At Mountainside, we are redefining how mental health and substance use disorders are treated. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you’ll play a vital role in supporting clients living with Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and Co-Occurring Disorders through compassionate evaluation, evidence-based treatment, and ongoing medication management. You’ll work closely with our interdisciplinary team to develop holistic, personalized care plans that truly honor the mind, body, and spirit. Whether you're meeting clients on-site or via telehealth, your clinical insight and collaboration will directly shape lives and recovery outcomes.
Schedule:
Part-Time Schedule: 1-2 days per week, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (days to be determined based on clinic needs and provider availability)
Your Role:
- Perform psychiatric evaluations, mental status exams, and safety assessments for outpatient clients
- Provide ongoing medication management and document medication rationale, response, and side effects in EMR
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic and MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) medications (including buprenorphine, Vivitrol, Sublocade)
- Ensure compliance with state and federal prescribing regulations, including controlled substances
- Review and respond to lab and pharmacogenetic testing (PGT) results, ordering follow-ups as needed
- Educate clients and staff on psychiatric medications, MAT, anti-craving medications, and co-occurring disorders
- Participate in clinical meetings, case conferences, and team collaboration
- Provide both in-person and telehealth services as appropriate
- Maintain accurate, timely EMR documentation aligned with clinical and billing requirements
- Assist during crisis situations and ensure appropriate follow-up care is coordinated
- Administers long-acting Naltrexone and Buprenorphine injections when needed
- Refers clients to hospital and/or detox when higher-level-of-care is indicated
- Meet regularly with the Medical Director for clinical supervision
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric APRN program
- Current licensure in New York State as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
- Board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Current and valid DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances
- Current CPR certification
- Minimum 3 years of experience in psychiatric nursing and/or addiction treatment
- Proficient in administering Sublocade (subcutaneous) and Vivitrol (intramuscular) injections
- Experience prescribing buprenorphine and other MAT medications
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialized training or advanced experience in addiction medicine and co-occurring disorder treatment
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, including medication documentation and UR requirements
- Experience with telehealth platforms and delivering virtual psychiatric care
- Comfort with interdisciplinary team collaboration in a behavioral health setting

Compensation:
The rate of pay for this position is $100.00 - $110.00 per hour. The rate of pay is determined based on a number of job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
