SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates activities of warehouse associates providing customer service by completing orders of food and nonfood products and maintaining high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety. Performing of the following duties is done personally or through subordinate staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop and motivate team to increase productivity and accuracy while fostering a safe work environment. Planning, assigning and directing employee workload.
- Ability to effectively communicate with different levels in the organization.
- Effectively utilizes metrics to drive results.
- Maintains smooth functioning of the outbound order / picking process. Primary functions of assigning and assuring that orders are pulled in a timely, efficient (staging) and accurate manner.
- Ability to lead by example and build a strong team environment. Supervises the warehouse staff ensuring compliance with company policies, delegating appropriately to complete necessary tasks and projects.
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow. Assigns staff duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Reviews order accuracy and conduct quality checks and studies. Standardizes procedures, with supervisor approval, to improve efficiency of subordinates. Provides to supervisor reports on productivity and order accuracy, on schedule and as needed/requested.
- Performs daily walk-through of all orders staged for pick-up to make sure all orders are being picked up on requested ship date. Works with Agency Services to determine rescheduled date or product returns.
- Ensures that labor is being allocated in a manner appropriate for the order demand and consistent with Foodbank priorities. Acts in capacity of warehouse associate to assist with order pulling if the demand is present or as needed/requested by supervisor.
- Ensuring all orders are completed and staged prior to the shift end and all inventory picks are posted.
- Works with Inventory Manger on assuring quality count of product to maximize the accuracy of our inventory.
- Training of new hires and current staff in methods and procedures for order pulling, safe equipment operation, warehouse housekeeping and other routines.
- Maintains required job knowledge and skills and core professional competencies, including attending and participating in required educational programs and staff meetings.
- Maintain high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety at all times. Ensures that empty pallets are removed from aisle ways, cooler and freezer.
- Participate in and delegate staff to provide housekeeping services in accordance to the sanitation schedule for the warehouse areas, as scheduled, or necessary, to maintain the highest level of cleanliness and pest control.
- Ensures compliance with all regulations as they pertain to warehouse operations, safety regulations, food handling and pest control.
- Daily inspects warehouse facilities and equipment, reporting repairs that are necessary or required, ensuring that facility and equipment is properly maintained.
- Ensure that dangerous conditions are removed prior to an accident or injury occurring (i.e., water spill clean-up, etc.).
- Actively support and champion initiatives aimed at driving continuous improvement throughout the organization. May participate in one of the following: LEAN council, a kaizen, 5S campaign or other process improvement efforts to support continuous improvement and improved processes within the food bank.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises the order fulfillment team in the warehouse. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Tow motor certification preferred. Ability to achieve Serve-safe certification required.
Qualifications
Four year degree preferred, HS diploma or equivalent required. Three to four years warehouse and supervisory experience required. Tow motor certification preferred. Ability to achieve Serve-safe certification required. Physical Requirements and Environment
The physical requirements for this position include: Ability to remain in a near constant stationary position. Ability to move about inside the office and to access truck cab and deliver product constantly. Ability to operate a computer or other office productivity machinery constantly. Ability to ascend/descend stairs to access workspaces frequently. Ability to position or move body to access filing cabinets or other work equipment constantly. Ability to constantly be able to exchange accurate information, take and give direction and hear safety warnings. Ability to constantly inspect product, judge distance between equipment, shelves and permanent structures. Ability to frequently detect spoiled product or quality of meals. Ability to move office equipment/supplies frequently. Ability to lift 50+ lbs. on a regular basis. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience
