Schedule: Full-day and afternoon shifts available, typically between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm
About Us
New York Preschool & Kids Club is a premier early childhood education and enrichment program serving modern New York families through our combination of enrichment classes and preschool education. With multiple schools across New York City, NYPKC blends a research-backed, play-based curriculum with a fun and supportive environment, delivering a full family experience for children and parents.
About the Role
We are looking for a high-energy Enrichment Teacher who can command a room and keep it buzzing. This is a generalist role. Across a single day you might lead a gym class, run a music and art circle, coach a toddler through a first tumble, and keep our Afternoon Club moving until pickup. We're looking for a big presence, a strong voice, and the stamina to bring energy and structure to every class, every hour.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the room. Take charge of gym, movement, music, art, STEM, and sports classes for children ages 0 to 6, keeping every class active, structured, and fun from the first minute to the last.
- Bring the energy. Set the tone with a strong voice and a big presence. You keep children engaged, moving, and excited, and you hold that energy across a full afternoon.
- Stay two steps ahead. Notice behavior early and redirect it before it escalates, hold clear and consistent expectations, and keep transitions quick so no minute is wasted.
- Run Afternoon Club. At several locations you will lead our after-school program through 6:00 pm: a fast-paced mix of gym, dance, sports, art, and more, where children move from activity to activity and families pick up throughout the afternoon.
- Partner with families. Give parents clear daily updates on their child’s wins and challenges, building a bridge between school and home.
What Success Looks Like
- A safe, joyful, high-energy classroom where every child is engaged and thriving.
- Behavior noticed and redirected early, with calm and consistent expectations.
- Smooth, quick transitions that keep every minute of class productive.
- Trust-based relationships with students, families, and your team.
- 100% compliance with all Department of Health requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- Presence and energy. You are comfortable being the most animated person in the room. You engage a group of young children quickly and keep your energy high across a full day or a long afternoon.
- Classroom leadership. You notice and redirect behavior calmly and early, and you hold structure without losing the fun.
- Experience. 1 to 2+ years teaching children ages 2 to 6 (camp, pre-k, after-school, daycare, or enrichment). Comfort leading gym and movement classes matters most; experience in music, dance, gymnastics, sports, or yoga is a plus.
- Education. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood, or study in progress, is preferred.
- Stamina. This is an active, on-your-feet role. You will be moving, spotting, and performing for most of your shift.
Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
What to Expect in the Process
Every candidate leads a short read-aloud as part of the interview. Come ready to run a few minutes of a class as if we are your students. We want to see your energy, your presence, and how you hold and lead a group.
