Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) is seeking a Communications and Marketing Intern to support the Strategic Communications team. This internship offers hands-on experience in strategic communications, digital marketing, media relations, website content, and event marketing. Interns will contribute to projects that support OFN's mission while gaining experience with professional communications tools and building a portfolio of work. The position supports OFN42 and other communications initiatives while providing meaningful exposure to nonprofit communications and community development finance.

This position is based in Washington, D.C. All staff currently work a hybrid schedule.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct daily health scans across OFN's communications channels and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Draft, schedule, and maintain social media content and editorial calendars.
- Monitor media coverage and prepare daily news clips for leadership.
- Update and quality-check website content.
- Support newsletter and email production.
- Create graphics and digital assets using design tools.
- Assist with event marketing and content production, including OFN42.
- Track communications performance metrics and reporting.
- Maintain project trackers, calendars, and workflow tools.
- Research, proofread, and edit communications materials.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or a recent graduate.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Interest in communications, marketing, public affairs, nonprofit work, or community development.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and communications platforms.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across teams while working independently.
- Comfort learning communications technologies including WordPress, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Mailchimp, Meltwater, Google Analytics, Asana, and AI-enabled workflow tools.
