At CaseWorthy, the software we build helps human-services organizations do their most important work — finding housing for people experiencing homelessness, supporting older adults and people with disabilities, and caring for families and survivors in crisis. We’re looking for early-career engineers to help us build that platform, full-stack, on a modern cloud-native stack — with a growing data and machine-learning platform behind it, and AI features being built into the product itself.
AI is part of how we work. You’ll use AI coding tools and agents every day to help design, build, test, and debug — while bringing the engineering judgment to architect solid systems and make sure what ships is high quality. If you already build this way and want to get even better at it, we’d love to meet you.
• Build full-stack features on our go-forward platform: React on the front end, .NET and Node.js services, in a cloud-native microservice architecture on Azure.
• Use AI coding tools and agents (like Claude Code) to help generate, test, and refactor code across the development cycle — guiding the work and owning the result.
• Apply real design judgment — architecture, service boundaries, and design patterns (SOLID/DRY) — to build software that’s extensible, reusable, and built to last.
• Take part in technical design — help shape how the features and components you work on get built.
• Review and validate code and tests (including AI-generated ones) for correctness, security, and performance — partnering with the team to make sure what ships is solid and high quality.
• Write and validate tests across unit, integration, and regression — including the edge cases that break things.
• Turn product specs into clear, well-scoped work, and ask sharp questions early when something’s unclear.
• Collaborate and keep learning — with Product, UX, QA, and DevOps — as our tools and practices evolve.
Ability to travel nationwide, up to 10% annually.
Performs other duties as assigned.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field — finished or finishing — or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Hands-on programming experience in a modern language like Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript/Node — front-end and back-end / API work (REST, JSON). You don’t need our exact stack on day one; we’ll help you grow into our React, .NET, and Node.js environment.
• Engineering fundamentals: object-oriented programming and an eye for clean design (design patterns, SOLID/DRY), plus working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and Git.
• Real experience using AI coding tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, and the like) to build, test, or debug — from coursework, internships, capstones, personal projects, hackathons, or open source.
• Good judgment about code: you can read code you didn’t write — including an agent’s — and spot when it’s wrong.
• Clear communication: you can define a problem clearly and explain your technical work to teammates.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to pick up new technologies and tools quickly.
Preferred
• Experience with C# / .NET, or with React / TypeScript.
• Exposure to microservices and the cloud (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP welcome).
• Cloud-native basics: containers, CI/CD, infrastructure as code.
• Test automation — Playwright, xUnit/NUnit, or Jest.
• Exposure to Model Context Protocol (MCP) tooling or multi-agent workflows.
• Exposure to data platforms (data lakes or lakehouses), analytics, or machine learning — or eagerness to grow into it.
• A heart for the human-services mission.
