Reports to: Systems Analyst
DEFINITION: The IT Intern’s primary responsibility is to assist the IT department with day-to-day operations and ongoing technology initiatives. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience across multiple areas of IT support, strategic planning, and project and asset management.
EXAMPLES OF WORK DUTIES: (Any one position may not include all of the following, nor do all of the listed examples include all duties and responsibilities which may be required in each position).
- Assist with maintaining and updating the IT asset inventory list (hardware and software).
- Help document hardware assignments, software licenses, and warranty statuses.
- Support the IT team in implementing new IT systems or tools.
- Assist in setting up new devices and configuring basic system settings.
- Provide general support on IT projects, including testing, documentation, and deployment.
- Assist in providing basic Tier I support responses to incoming help tickets
- Assist in preparing IT SOP binder.
- Help in organizing IT trainings for employees.
- Help in creating Training Manuals.
- Help organize and label equipment in storage and office areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 60 hours or more completed toward course of study in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware and software.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with end users in a professional and collaborative manner
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn, accept constructive feedback, and take direction.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, and demonstrate initiative where appropriate
- All individuals who have committed felonies that are listed on the disqualification registry with the Department of Mental Health will be removed from payroll effective immediately unless a request for exception has been approved with the Department of Mental Health.
A valid Missouri license MUST be obtained within the first two (2) weeks of employment for this position. Must maintain an acceptable driving status according to Procedure No. 1-8-3, Woodhaven Vehicle Use. Any exception to this requirement must be authorized by the Chief Financial Officer.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This is semi- sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions. Must be able to pass mandatory background and drug screen tests.
