The Security Guard is responsible for safeguarding personnel, facilities, assets, and organizational operations Marshall Farms’, through proactive threat identification, deterrence, risk mitigation, and incident response. This position supports a prevention-focused security program by integrating physical security, surveillance, access control, emergency response, and protective operations to maintain a safe and secure environment across all company locations.
Security Guards serve as highly visible representatives of the organization and are expected to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and vigilance while protecting people, property, and operations.
Core Responsibilities
Protective Operations & Risk Mitigation
· Maintain a visible and professional protective presence to deter unauthorized access, criminal activity, safety violations, and disruptive behavior.
· Identify security vulnerabilities, threats, and unsafe conditions and take appropriate action to mitigate risk.
· Conduct ongoing assessments of personnel, facilities, and operational environments to recognize potential hazards and emerging threats.
· Enforce company policies, procedures, and applicable laws to support safety, security, and regulatory compliance.
· Promote a culture of awareness, preparedness, and prevention throughout the organization.
Access Control & Site Security
· Control and monitor facility access through credential verification, badge validation, and authorization procedures.
· Manage visitor, vendor, and contractor access, including identity verification, registration, and escort coordination.
· Maintain awareness of critical infrastructure, restricted areas, and security-sensitive locations.
· Respond to unauthorized access attempts and security violations in accordance with established procedures.
Surveillance & Threat Detection
· Monitor CCTV, alarm systems, intrusion detection systems, and other security technologies to identify suspicious activity or anomalies.
· Observe personnel, vehicles, visitors, and environmental conditions for indicators of risk or security concerns.
· Evaluate developing situations and initiate appropriate escalation, notification, or response procedures.
· Support intelligence gathering and information sharing related to site security and protective operations.
Patrol & Protective Presence
· Conduct structured, randomized, and directed patrols of facilities, grounds, and critical infrastructure.
· Utilize available technology, detection equipment, and security systems to enhance threat detection and situational awareness.
· Investigate alarms, unusual activities, and reported incidents.
· Maintain readiness to respond to emergencies and security concerns throughout assigned areas of responsibility.
Incident Response & Emergency Operations
· Respond effectively to emergencies, alarms, both physical and environmental, security incidents, and critical events.
· Apply verbal de-escalation, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention techniques whenever appropriate.
· Utilize force only when legally justified and necessary to protect life, property, or organizational interests.
· Understand and comply with New York Penal Law Article 35 regarding the lawful use of force.
· Support emergency management procedures, evacuations, lockdowns, and continuity operations.
· Coordinate with management, law enforcement, fire services, EMS, and other external responders.
· Take lawful action, including detention or arrest when necessary and authorized.
Documentation & Reporting
· Complete accurate, detailed, and timely reports of incidents, activities, observations, and investigations.
· Maintain security logs, records, and operational documentation.
· Communicate security concerns, emerging risks, and incident information to leadership and stakeholders.
· Assist with investigations through objective and fact-based reporting.
Professional Conduct & Organizational Representation
· Represent the organization with professionalism, integrity, discretion, and ethical conduct.
· Demonstrate accountability, discipline, and sound decision-making under pressure.
· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
· Serve as a positive ambassador for the Protective Services Department and the organization.
· Participate in ongoing training, professional development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required
· High School Diploma or GED.
· New York State Security Guard Registration or qualify to obtain a Guard card.
· Valid New York State Driver’s License.
· Working knowledge of security operations, emergency response procedures, and applicable legal authorities.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to operate security technologies, computers, and reporting systems.
Preferred
· Prior military, law enforcement, corrections, emergency services, or security experience.
· Experience in protective services, threat assessment, or critical infrastructure protection.
Work Environment
· Twenty-four-hour operation requiring shift work, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
· Indoor and outdoor assignments in varying environmental and weather conditions.
· Physically and mentally demanding work requiring vigilance, endurance, adaptability, and sound judgment.
· Regular interaction with employees, visitors, contractors, and public safety agencies.
The Security Guard position emphasizes prevention over reaction. Success is measured by the ability to identify and mitigate threats before incidents occur while maintaining a safe, professional, and secure environment for personnel, operations, and organizational assets.
Primary focus areas include:

This position is 12 hour shifts.
The paygrade for Security Guard is N2 with a range of $17.92 - $26.10/hour.
