Position Overview

We are seeking a Controls Technician to join our Automation Engineering team at our Lewiston, Maine facility.

This role is responsible for building, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial control systems that support manufacturing operations across multiple locations. Working closely with Automation Engineers and PLC Programmers, the Controls Technician will support new equipment installations, machine upgrades, control panel fabrication, electrical troubleshooting, and automation projects while gaining hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and advanced manufacturing technologies.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Build, wire, and assemble electrical control panels using electrical schematics and industry standards
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, motors, and safety circuits
• Support new equipment installations, machine commissioning, and automation system startups
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot electrical and control system issues to minimize production downtime
• Assist with PLC and HMI updates, I/O validation, field device testing, and system integration projects
• Update electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system documentation while supporting continuous improvement initiatives
• Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to resolve equipment issues and improve system reliability
• Support automation projects across multiple manufacturing facilities while ensuring compliance with electrical codes and company safety standards

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Associate's degree in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
• 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls wiring, electrical systems, or panel building preferred
• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
• Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens control systems required
• Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, industrial networking, sensors, and servo systems
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills with a desire to continue learning automation technologies
• Experience using electrical testing equipment and working safely around industrial electrical systems
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to travel approximately 10–30% to support automation projects across company facilities

Compensation: $75,000–$85,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, holidays, and career development opportunities


 Full-Time | Onsite: Lewiston, Maine
Travel: Approximately 10–30% to support multiple manufacturing locations
