Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Unit Secretary is non-licensed person who performs clerical unit tasks in Diagnostic Imaging as requested.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform clerical/reception duties in the Radiology Department.
  • Answer telephone; take and relay messages.
  • Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality.
  • Greet and direct patients.
  • Understanding of Hospital Information System.
  • Understanding of the Radiology Information System.
  • Understanding of PACS system.
  • Able to schedule patients.
  • Able to explain preps to patients.
  • Understanding of HIPPA guidelines.
  • Able to make CDs of patient's images.
  • Able to send images to both cloud systems.
  • Assist in care and maintenance of departmental equipment.
  • Attend in service and other meetings as required. Attendance of 50% of all department meetings is required.
  • Must adhere to hospital dress code.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Typing and filing skills are desired.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 12 hours a day.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
  • Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
  • Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
  • Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs.
  • Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
