Paralegal Specialist
Description

   

Essential Functions:

  • Summarizing legal documentation and communication information to the Senior Management Team 
  • Performing records research and performing legal research 
  • Coordinating research with community management team and/or key players
  • Checking legal forms for accuracy
  • Preparing reports and correspondence
  • Drafting all sorts of legal documents 
  • Process and follow-up on insurance claims 
  • Sit through mediations on insurance claims
  • Maintain knowledge of state and local regulations for AL, MC and SNF communities
  • Maintain/track and submit paperwork for all license at each community
  • Provide training/education and support at the Community level to include worker’s compensation and EEOC issues
  • Occasionally review associate handbook, resident handbook, resident agreements, community licensures, etc. for compliance and correctness

Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelors degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years-experience in a healthcare or real estate legal department or law firm
  • Knowledge of healthcare laws, real estate transactions, compliance laws and regulations
  • Understand governance, compliance, regulatory environments and litigation in a healthcare environment
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and will be able to work in a high paced, timeline driven corporate office setting
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Outlook software. Basic typing skills required
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, associates, residents, family members, state regulatory agencies, hospitals, and outside contacts
  • Knowledge of current Federal and State laws pertaining to assisted living and/or memory care communities
  • Must meet all state health requirements
  • Able to make independent decisions
  • Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens
