Youth Residential House Supervisor

One Full Time Position. 40 + hours per week

24/7 Facility, shifts typically Monday – Friday day hours, may need to cover, evenings or overnights as needed

Hiring Range: $22.52-$24.55/ hr., depending upon education and experience.

This position will remain open until filled.

Position Summary 

Provides leadership and oversight of Ariel’s Sprite House, ensuring the safety, well-being, and positive development of youth in care. Supervises staff, manages program operations and regulatory compliance, oversees case management and treatment services, and promotes trauma-informed, strength-based care.

Minimum Requirements

Required: 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • Ability to successfully pass all required background checks, reference checks, and psychosocial      evaluation/assessment as required by licensing standards.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with at-risk youth, child welfare, behavioral health, or residential treatment      programs.
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience in a residential, youth services, or human services setting.

Preferred:

  • One or more years’ experience supporting  individuals with intellectual, developmental, or other disabilities in      residential, educational, behavioral health, or community-based settings.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or program management experience.
  • Bachelor’s  or master’s degree in social work, Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Child Development, or a related field.

Requirements

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  1. Serve  as the primary caregiver and provide overall leadership and daily oversight of residential services, youth care, staff performance and facility operations. 
  2. Create, implement, collaborate, and evaluate youth programming that promotes safety, permanency, independent living skills, positive development, and successful outcomes.
  3. Supervise, train, and develop staff, including hiring, scheduling, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, professional development, timecard approvals, and PTO management.
  4. Ensure youth safety and well-being by providing trauma-informed supervision, responding to crises, managing risk, and reviewing incidents to implement corrective actions.
  5. Oversee case management services, coordinating with counties, schools, therapists, medical providers, guardians, families, and other stakeholders to meet youth needs.
  6. Manage treatment planning and documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, monthly reports, incident reporting, admissions, discharges, and resident records.
  7. Maintain regulatory compliance, ensuring readiness for audits and inspections, compliance with Colorado Volume 7 regulations, licensing standards, Health Department requirements, and fire safety regulations.
  8. Monitor financial and operational performance, including budget awareness, expense reporting, facility maintenance, inventory control, and overall facility livability.
  9. Oversee educational, medical, and behavioral health services, ensuring youth receive required healthcare, mental health treatment, medication oversight, educational support, and school advocacy.
  10. Promote and collaborate family engagement and community partnerships by facilitating visitation, permanency planning,      communication with families, and collaboration with community agencies and service providers. 
  11. Lead quality improvement efforts, collecting outcome data, preparing reports, participating in program evaluation,      supporting organizational goals, and providing on-call leadership as needed while ensuring all services are trauma-informed, strength-based, culturally responsive, and family-centered.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

1. Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and practices. 

2. Knowledge of child and adolescent development, behavioral health, and crisis intervention techniques. 

3. Knowledge of residential child care operations and best practices according to Colorado Volume 7 regulations, licensing standards, and child welfare requirements.

4. Knowledge of supervisory principles, staff development, and performance management. 

5. Ability to assess situations, exercise sound judgment, and respond effectively during emergencies.

6. Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities. 

7. Ability to lead a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive residential program.

8. Ability to build collaborative relationships with youth, families, stakeholders, and community partners.

9. Ability to work effectively with youth who have experienced trauma, behavioral health challenges, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and/or involvement in the child welfare system. 

10. Ability to interpret and apply policies, licensing requirements, and regulatory standards.

11. Ability to communicate regularly and effectively with parents, guardians and all other individuals/team members involved with the youth.

12. Ability to be flexible, and able to change direction rapidly.

13. Must be available outside of traditional office hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary to perform the functions of the position.

14. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with all records.

Certifications/Licenses 

Required: 

  1. Valid Colorado Driver’s License with an      acceptable driving record.
  2. CPR, First Aid – before contact with clients.
  3. Agency/Department training.
  4. Informed Supervision training.
  5. CPI – within 60 days of hire, may not be left unsupervised with clients until this training is completed.
  6. Sex Offender training - within 60 days of hire, may not be left unsupervised with clients until this training is      completed. 
  7. QMAP – (Medical Administration Certification) within 60 days of hire, may not provide medication to clients without this      certification.
  8. Client Specific Medical Needs Training, as required with current clients. May not perform any medical care unless properly trained.
  9. Foster Care CORE Training
  10. Van Drivers Training – before driving Ariel owned vehicles.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Provides direct supervision of Residential Program Staff (DSP Staff).

Physical Demands 

  1. This position requires that the incumbent be capable of walking, bending, standing, sitting, stooping, stretching,      and/or reaching regularly for periods up to 2 hours without a break. 
  2. This position requires that the incumbent have adequate hand and finger dexterity to properly perform the functions of      the position.
  3. This position requires lifting regularly up to 25 pounds, pulling or pushing persons in wheelchairs, transferring persons      weighing more than 50 pounds to and from wheelchairs must be performed with another staff member.
  4. At times, physical interventions may be required.
  5. This position requires the ability to hear, see, smell, and distinguish temperature, at a level which is adequate to ensure      client and staff health and safety. Adaptive devices are acceptable.
  6. This position will require daily driving of up to 1 hour per day and occasionally up to 8 hours per day. 
  7. Climbing may be required from time to time.

Work Environment 

  1. This position can and will be exposed to all environments from quiet to noisy, climate controlled to extreme outdoor      heat and cold.
  2. Exposure to blood borne pathogens and infectious disease is possible but limited.
  3. Exposure to hazardous chemicals is possible but limited.
