Position Summary
The Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides non-medical personal care services that enable clients to safely remain in their homes. Services are delivered under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with each client's individualized Plan of Care.
Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
- Assist with toileting and incontinence care.
- Assist with ambulation, transfers, and mobility.
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding, when needed.
- Perform light housekeeping related to the client's care.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Provide medication reminders (no medication administration).
- Observe and report changes in the client's condition.
- Complete electronic visit documentation accurately and on time.
- Follow each client's individualized Plan of Care and agency policies.
Qualifications
Required
- Virginia-approved PCA training or qualifying credential.
- Reliable transportation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and professionally.
- Ability to pass all required background screenings.
Preferred
- Previous home care or caregiving experience.
- CPR certification.
- Valid Virginia Driver's License and current automobile insurance.
- Experience caring for seniors or individuals with disabilities.
- Experience working with clients living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
