JOB SUMMARY:

The Sr. Manager of Club Design & Equipment leads the planning, design, and execution of club layouts and equipment strategies across the portfolio. This role translates brand, operational, and financial objectives into scalable, high-performing design solutions while remaining hands-on in layouts, renderings, FF&E planning, and project deliverables. The Sr. Manager drives cross-functional alignment, ensures design accuracy and consistency, and oversees project scope, budgets, risks, and timelines. This role also provides direct leadership to the Project Engineer and partners closely with Construction, Facilities, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Fitness, and external vendors to deliver high-quality, brand-aligned club environments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead, coach and develop the Project Engineer providing technical direction, workload prioritization, performance feedback and guidance to support successful project execution while actively contributing to design deliverables and project execution
  • Lead the development, review, revision and production of equipment layouts to ensure alignment with brand standards, operational needs, member experience and project objectives
  • Develop, review and refine 3D renderings, interior elevations and visual presentation materials to communicate design intent, support decision-making and align stakeholders.
  • Establish, maintain and apply club design, equipment, finish, safety and operational standards while ensuring layouts, plans and deliverables remain accurate, consistent, and compliant across the portfolio 
  • Conduct club visits, lead site surveys and provide hands-on field coordination to validate layouts, assess project needs, identify risks and support fit out and equipment planning activities
  • Own and execute planning and scope development from schematic design through final punch list for club layouts including furniture, fixtures, equipment, finishes and other refit and project scope
  • Maintain, update and improve club design documentation including layouts, standards, visual guides, templates and department files, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, consistency and scalability
  • Identify opportunities to improve club design standards, templates, and processes to support scalability and consistency across the portfolio
  • Prepare, manage and contribute to project updates, schedules, submittal reviews, approvals, and tracking within project management platforms ensuring stakeholders have clear visibility to priorities, risks and milestones
  • Partner with Operations, Facilities, Fitness, Finance and other stakeholders to ensure equipment and design solutions balance member experience, durability, maintenance needs, operational efficiency, lifecycle cost and long-term business value
  • Lead and contribute to FF&E strategy, vendor selection, product recommendations, budget preparation and pricing review to support project goals, operational needs and portfolio standards 
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional collaboration with other Construction, Facilities, Fitness, Finance, Marketing, Operations and other departments and external partners to align scope, timing, budget, brand standards, and implementation requirements

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS – WHO YOU ARE:

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in club design, equipment planning, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a leadership or project management role
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple concurrent projects across Design, Construction, Facilities and Operations
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and project management platforms (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana, or similar)
  • Demonstrates expertise in developing high-quality 3D renderings and interior elevations for concept presentations and project rollouts
  • Strong understanding of FF&E strategy, brand standards, and club layout optimization
  • Experience interpreting architectural, MEP, and construction documents 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to leadership and external partners
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows-based systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying risks and resolving issues
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and pivot quickly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting
  • Comfortable with site visits, field coordination, and working across remote and in-person teams
  • Delivers high-quality, accurate work products within established timelines and standards
  • Self-managing with the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks 
  • Demonstrates good judgment, confidentiality, and diplomacy in handling sensitive and confidential information with integrity
  • Team-oriented and adept at managing several complex projects simultaneously
  • Ability to adapt to evolving project scopes, timelines, and priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% for site visits, project support, strategic initiatives and company meetings

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to walk, stand, and move throughout club facilities and outdoor areas for up to 8 hours per day, and may also sit for extended periods for planning and administrative work. Team members may be exposed to cleaning chemicals, pool chemicals, dust, noise, temperature fluctuations (hot and cold environments), and airborne particles, and will be required to wear designated personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed.

Team members are frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grip, and operate tools and equipment; reach, push, and pull with arms and hands; occasional climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to bend and twist, including side-to-side movements. The team member may be required to lift, carry, or move up to 25 pounds, will often be required to lift, carry, or move 26–50 pounds.

$100-$120K + 15% target bonus
