Director of Revenue Cycle Management

Salary Range: $125,000-$175,000 per year (DOE)

Job Summary:
The Director of Revenue Cycle Management provides strategic and operational leadership for NRT Behavioral Health's revenue cycle, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant reimbursement across all levels of care. This position oversees billing, utilization review, benefits verification, and revenue cycle operations while driving process improvement, accountability, and cash flow performance. The Director serves as the primary leader responsible for optimizing reimbursement, reducing denials, improving collections, and developing scalable revenue cycle processes that support organizational growth.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive revenue cycle management experience, preferably within behavioral health or healthcare services.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing billing or revenue cycle teams.
- Demonstrated experience leading revenue cycle process improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, authorizations, denials, appeals, and behavioral health reimbursement.
- Experience managing third-party billing vendors preferred.
- Experience with behavioral health EHR and practice management systems preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight for all revenue cycle functions, including medical billing, utilization review, benefits verification, claims management, payment posting, collections, and denial management.
- Lead, develop, and manage the Revenue Cycle Management team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Oversee the end-to-end revenue cycle, from insurance verification through final reimbursement.
- Develop, monitor, and report key revenue cycle metrics, including cash collections, accounts receivable aging, clean claim rate, denial rate, days in AR, authorization timeliness, and reimbursement trends.
- Drive continuous process improvement to increase operational efficiency, reduce administrative burden, and improve reimbursement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party billing vendors and oversee vendor performance, accountability, and transition initiatives.
- Collaborate with Clinical, Medical, Admissions, Finance, and Operations leadership to improve documentation, authorization management, and reimbursement outcomes.
- Lead appeals, payer escalations, and resolution of complex reimbursement issues.
- Develop and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer billing requirements, including HIPAA and applicable behavioral health regulations.
- Support audits, accreditation surveys, and regulatory reviews.
- Prepare executive reporting and provide routine cash flow forecasting, reimbursement analysis, and revenue cycle performance updates to senior leadership.
- Evaluate payer performance and recommend operational or contracting improvements to maximize reimbursement.
