Senior Billing/AR Specialist
Reports to: Director of Revenue Cycle Management

Starting Salary: $50,000-$65,000 per year (DOE)

Job Summary:
The Senior Billing/AR Specialist is responsible for accurate claim submission, payment posting, and follow-up to ensure timely reimbursement for behavioral health services. This role supports daily billing operations and works closely with internal teams and insurance payors to resolve billing issues.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- 1–3 years of medical billing experience preferred.
- Behavioral health billing experience a plus.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and insurance billing processes.
- Experience with electronic billing systems and EHRs.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Submit clean claims to commercial and government payors.
- Review and correct claim rejections and denials.
- Post insurance payments and adjustments accurately.
- Follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims.
- Review explanations of benefits and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate billing documentation and records.
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status.
- Collaborate with admissions, utilization review, and clinical teams as needed.
- Ensure compliance with billing regulations and organizational policies.
- Assist with audits and reporting as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Standing, sitting, bending, reaching.
- Must be able to see, hear, talk, read, write, type.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Driving in all weather conditions.
