Job Title: Human Resources Specialist - Part-Time

Program/Department: Administration

Reports to: Assistant Executive Director

FLSA Status: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Position Summary: The Human Resources Specialist will manage the daily functions of the Human Resources department. Duties include payroll functions, recruitment and talent acquisition, personnel documentation, benefits administration, and policies and procedures.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, schedule to be determined. 20-25 hours per week.


Essential Functions:

Payroll:

  • Responsible for running bi-weekly payroll in the Paylocity payroll system to ensure that payroll is submitted in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Coordinating with supervisors to ensure timecards and leave requests are approved and correctly entered in the Paylocity payroll system.
  • Responsible for maintaining payroll reports as requested by the finance team and for the annual fiscal audit.

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:

  • Responsible for updating and maintaining job descriptions, in collaboration with supervisors.
  • Posting vacant positions in Paylocity payroll system and other job boards and maintaining the search process.
  • Reviewing job applications to provide a slate of qualified candidates to the supervisors. 
  • Coordinating interviews between the candidates and supervisors; participating in the interview process if requested.
  • Facilitating job offer processes which include contacting professional references and conducting pre-employment criminal background checks and drug screenings.
  • Maintaining new employment documentation which includes I-9 employment verification forms, tax forms, direct deposit forms, and emergency contact forms. 

Personnel Documentation:

  • Responsible for updating electronic personnel records in the Paylocity payroll system, including new hires, terminations, and other personnel matters such as pay rate, position, and supervisor changes.
  • Responsible for maintaining physical personnel files for current and former employees and other pertinent documentation in alignment with retention schedules.

Benefits Administration:

  • Coordinating with GUM’s insurance brokers on the annual open enrollment processes.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Employee Navigator benefits administration system has up-to-date employee information. 
  • Responsible for providing monthly benefits invoices to finance team for payment and providing employees with benefits information including insurance cards as needed.
  • Coordinating with GUM’s retirement plan administrators to ensure payroll contributions are entered and assist employees with enrollments, contributions, and withdrawals.

Policies and Procedures:

  • Ensures that GUM’s employment policies and practices follow federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Reviews GUM employee handbook policies and procedures and provides updates or addresses issues as needed.
  • Assists employees with Worker’s Compensation, Family Medical Leave Act, and short-term/long-term disability as needed.

Other Functions:

  • Assist the Finance Specialist as needed.
  • Attend and participate in Greensboro Urban Ministry staff meetings.
  • Other duties as the leadership may deem as necessary.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least one year of human resources experience is preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Speaking, standing, sitting, walking, driving, lifting, climbing, writing, keyboarding, organizing, problem solving, planning, interpreting data, supervising others.
  • Ability to utilize and create documents and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Salary Description
$22.00-$25.00/Hour
