The primary responsibility of the Service Manager is to oversee the service department and drive operational success; manage our technicians, service advisors, dispatcher, service call center, porters, detailers and shuttle driver, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them
- Work with the Parts Manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs
- Work with the dispatcher to ensure customers vehicles are serviced properly and in a timely manner
- Attend manager meetings and conduct service department meetings
- Maintain technician certifications and training
- Partner with technical schools to recruit technicians
- Partner with OEM and other third-party vendors
- Handle and resolve customer complaints
- Motivate, train, develop and reward employees
- Communicate with customers about maintenance and service work needed effectively
- Provide and maintain a safe workplace and environment for employees and customers
- Other duties to be determined by management
- Provide fast and courteous service to technicians, retail, and wholesale customers.
- List and price out parts on repair orders and or counter tickets.
- Write purchase orders for parts and sublet work as needed from outside suppliers and obtain management approval.
- List and price out all sublet repair work on repair orders.
- Properly input loss and sales into the inventory control system.
- Maintain records of all special-order parts and notify the person who authorized the order of receipt.
- Make sure technicians turn in all defective parts necessary for warranty scrap and tag them appropriately.
- Maintain the warranty return parts inventory in a clean and organized manner.
- Help maintain accounting schedules, and other technical information and bulletins.
Qualifications:
- Strong customer service skills are a must
- Must be able to manage a team, train, motivate and develop
- Experience with CDK or other automotive software required
- Experience with DealerLogix or other similar software required
- Strong technical aptitude is required
- Proven track record to grow the fixed operation business through excellent CSI, advertising, managing utilization and proficiency of the shop
- Previous automotive Service Management experience is preferred
- Must be able to manage in a fast-paced work environment
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screens (background & MVR)
