Mechanical Engineer
Description

The Mechanical Engineer designs and documents containerized and shelter-based systems that meet customer, contractual, and regulatory requirements. This role focuses on translating Statements of Work (SOWs), contracts, specifications, and customer requirements into complete 3D models, fabrication drawings, integration drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs) used to manufacture fully integrated systems. Engineers are responsible for system integration, design-for-fabrication, and engineering documentation.


Job Summary:

This position reports to the Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate possesses strong CAD skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes. Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor is highly desirable. The role requires close collaboration with Project Management, Procurement, Production, and Quality to develop accurate, buildable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.


Responsibilities:

  • Review customer requirements, contracts, SOWs, specifications, and reference documents. 
  • Develop 3D models and 2D fabrication/integration drawings using CAD software. 
  • Create and maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs). 
  • Design layouts and integration solutions for equipment installed within ISO containers and shelters. 
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, procurement, production, and quality personnel. 
  • Provide on-the-floor support for fabrication and integration activities, including troubleshooting and resolution of drawing and design issues in real-time.
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability, serviceability, transportability, and cost effectiveness. 
  • Manage engineering revisions and maintain configuration control. 
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement. 
  • Perform hand calculations and develop free-body diagrams to support design decisions. 
  • Work effectively in a collaborative cross-departmental environment. 
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Accident prevention – actively identify, correct and/or report safety hazards to prevent accidents.
  • Actively identify and pursue cost reduction and efficiency/profit improvement opportunities.

  • Support the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and the Sea Box Quality Policy calling for self-inspection of your work product.





Requirements

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and creation of fabrication-ready drawings. 
  • Strong understanding of statics and mechanical design principles. 
  • Ability to interpret technical  specifications, contracts, and engineering documentation. 
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to manage workload independently and complete assignments on schedule. 
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new skills, adapt to evolving project requirements, and pursue continuous self-improvement.

Preferred 

  • Understanding and experience with   Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Hands-on experience with machining,  building, welding, or fabrication processes.

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline.

Location:  This position is onsite (non-remote) at the Company’s corporate headquarters in Cinnaminson, NJ. This position may occasionally require working outside of the Company’s normal 8:30am – 5:30pm hours of operation.
