POSITION PURPOSE

  

To make Heritage Financial Credit Union a sought-after mortgage lending institution in our field of membership. In addition to actively interview, counsel and originate mortgage loans for members and non-members. 



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively sell CU products and services including consumer and real estate loans; perform credit counseling, analyze credit report, solve difficult member issues, etc.
  • Develop Mortgage Loan business for members and non-members in our field of membership. 
  • Interview and counsel new and existing members regarding mortgage products as well as information on other credit union products/services; 
  • Keeping informed of trends and developments in the local real estate market; 
  • Participate in sales development activities and furthering education opportunities.
  • Interact with Credit Union personnel to ensure seamless service and processing of approved application; 
  • Adhere to current laws to ensure compliance with terms; coordinates lending activities with loan department;
  • Perform responsibilities of position in accordance with federal and state regulations, credit union policies and procedures.
  • Refer members to Financial Services, as appropriate.
  • Work non-traditional hours, as necessary, to meet the needs and goals of our members and credit union.
  • Consistently travel to maintain current and build new networking relationships that promote HFCU and their products and services.
  • Regularly attend realtor and networking functions to promote the HFCU brand awareness.
  • Actively maintain a presence in the local mortgage industry to help create and promote the HFCU mortgage brand awareness.
  • Utilize networking relationships to bring new memberships and mortgage loans to HFCU.
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Recommend changes, workflow, efficiencies and quality.
  • Meet Goals/Core Comp requirements
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

4-year college degree preferred plus five to seven years experience in sales and/or financial counseling; or comparable 

combination of education and experience. Notary designation or ability to attain within 6 months.


KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of accounting principles, underwriting and compliance guidelines, and good communication skills. This position requires that the employee gain a working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements and how they will affect their work. The employee will comply with all requirements of the BSA and cooperate with the designated BSA Officer in assuring compliance.


EXPERIENCE:

Experience using P.C. based software and Microsoft Office, etc. 


SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Ability to project a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
