Since opening in 2017, the Kalona Creamery Retail Store has been a place where families, friends, and visitors come together to celebrate the rich dairy heritage of Kalona, Iowa. Whether guests stop in for a scoop of ice cream, fresh cheese curds, handcrafted cheeses, or their favorite Kalona SuperNatural dairy products, our store offers a welcoming experience and a taste of what makes our community special.

Job Overview

We're looking for a friendly, dependable Part-Time Retail Team Member who enjoys connecting with people and creating an exceptional customer experience. This position works approximately 10-15 hours per week and includes Saturday shifts as part of the regular schedule.

Primary Duties

• Welcome customers with a friendly, positive attitude and provide exceptional service to every guest.
• Operate the point-of-sale system accurately while processing purchases, returns, and payments.
• Help customers find products, answer questions, and share knowledge about Kalona Creamery products and local offerings.
• Receive, rotate, stock, and merchandise inventory to ensure shelves, coolers, and displays remain attractive and well stocked.
• Prepare and serve ice cream and other retail food items while maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting retail environment, including sales floor, coolers, displays, and work areas.
• Assist with inventory counts, product receiving, and restocking throughout the day.
• Stay current on store procedures, promotions, and required technology systems.
• Support the Kalona Creamery Coffee team as needed
• Work collaboratively with fellow team members to ensure daily operations run smoothly.
• Uphold and promote Open Gates Group's mission, values, and operating principles.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous retail, customer service, food service, or hospitality experience is preferred but not required.
• A passion for providing outstanding customer service.
• Friendly, professional communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and coworkers.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable attendance and a willingness to work a flexible part-time schedule, including Saturdays.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• High level of integrity and commitment to representing the Kalona Creamery brand with pride.
