Position Function:
The PRN Training Nurse provides remote training to ACH Child and Family Services staff on the safe administration of psychotropic medications. This position works on an as-needed basis, averaging approximately 2–4 hours per month, to ensure staff receive required education and maintain competency in medication administration practices in accordance with ACH policies, licensing standards, and applicable regulations.
This position does not provide direct nursing care, medication administration, or clinical services.
Requirements:
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Licensure: Current, unrestricted Texas Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license required
Experience:
- Experience with psychotropic medications and medication administration required.
- Experience providing staff education or clinical training preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, or child welfare preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide remote training to designated staff on the safe administration of psychotropic medications.
- Deliver training in accordance with ACH policies, licensing standards, and applicable regulations
- Answer participant questions related to medication administration during training sessions.
- Maintain documentation of training completion and attendance, as required.
- Coordinate training schedules with ACH staff.
- Notify ACH leadership of any recommended updates to training content based on changes in licensing requirements or nursing best practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
