School Nurse (RN)

 As the School Nurse at ACCESS, you'll play a vital role in supporting the daily health needs of the students and clients we serve. You'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, coordinate medical care, and serve as a trusted healthcare resource for staff and families.


Your Day Will Include

  • Assessing students and clients when illness or injury occurs and providing appropriate nursing care.
  • Administering scheduled and as-needed medications while maintaining accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs).
  • Monitoring students and clients for medication effectiveness and adverse reactions.
  • Communicating with parents, physicians, pharmacies, therapists, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care.
  • Collecting and maintaining medical records, immunizations, allergies, medication information, and medical consents.
  • Monitoring immunization compliance and keeping families informed of required updates.
  • Responding to accidents and incidents, assisting staff with appropriate documentation, and communicating with families as needed.
  • Maintaining first aid supplies, oxygen equipment, medication storage, and required temperature logs.
  • Serving as a health resource for staff by providing guidance on student medical needs, infection prevention, and emergency procedures.
  • Assisting with quality improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with nursing standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining nursing policies and procedures and performing other related duties as assigned.

 Starting salary is $65,000 annually based on direct related experience and qualifications.  


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ Certification:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Arkansas license as a Registered Nurse.

Experience/ Knowledge required:

  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children, adolescents, and/or adults with special needs preferred, but not required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain upon hire. 

Skills/ Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret therapy evaluation reports for quality and accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills which includes a working knowledge of databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and Internet software.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of therapists and managers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimal travel is required for this position; this travel may include transporting students/clients.
  • ACCESS drivers are required to maintain a valid Driver’s License, current auto liability insurance and registration, a clean driving record, and physical ability to drive to local locations throughout Arkansas.


Salary Description
Starting salary $65,000
