We're looking for an experienced Cloud Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our growing team and help lead cloud engineering efforts supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs.

What You'll Do

As our Cloud Engineering SME, you'll serve as a technical leader responsible for designing, automating, and supporting secure cloud environments that enable modern data platforms.

Responsibilities include:

• Design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable Azure cloud infrastructure 
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform 
• Build reusable Terraform modules and automated deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps and Git 
• Design automated Azure landing zones and provisioning processes 
• Create standardized cloud workspaces that accelerate onboarding and improve the user experience 
• Support Databricks workspace administration and cloud platform integrations 
• Configure Service Principals, RBAC, linked services, mount points, and data platform connectivity 
• Lead cloud migration initiatives from on-premises environments 
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and analytics teams to deliver secure, reliable cloud solutions 
• Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and provisioning issues 
• Develop technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and automation standards 
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardization, and operational excellence

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex cloud engineering challenges and helping shape technical direction.

 Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) 
• 12+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure, or related technical disciplines 
• Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud services 
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform 
• Experience designing and supporting enterprise cloud environments 
• Strong understanding of networking, storage, identity, and cloud platform services 
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Git 
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills 

Preferred Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

• Databricks administration 
• Azure Data Factory 
• Azure Synapse Analytics 
• Delta Lake or modern Data Lake architectures 
• SQL Server administration 
• Python or Spark SQL 
• Azure Event Hub 
• Azure Storage 
• Azure Logic Apps 
• Identity and Access Management (IAM), RBAC, and Service Principals 
• Cloud automation using Terraform, PowerShell, ARM, Bicep, or Python 
• Public sector, healthcare, or VA environments 
• Azure and Databricks certifications
