Director of Technology
Description

Valley Christian Schools is seeking a Director of Technology that is a servant leader who provides strategic vision and operational leadership for Valley Christian Schools' technology systems and services while supporting the school's mission through innovation, collaboration, and excellent customer service. The Director must be a professing and maturing Christian who enthusiastically supports Valley Christian Schools' Statement of Faith and mission, demonstrating biblical leadership and integrity in all aspects of the role. 


Job Summary:


The Director of Technology is responsible for day-to-day operations of the technology department. This includes all services and equipment that support the function of the school, managing the Technology Department staff, and working with the Executive Director of Business and Operations to forecast, build, and operate within the Technology Department budget.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all Technology Department staff
  • Work with Chief Operating Officer to form and maintain the Info Tech Dept budget
  • Work with Principals and Department Heads to determine needs of each school and department
  • Research requests and emerging technologies and to determine if they are a fit for the school
  • Work with team leaders and possibly vendors to build projects and work to completion
  • Responsible for all technology vendors and service contracts
  • Responsible for all connections and data security between the different onsite and cloud services
  • Maintain all core network and system services
  • Maintain data integrity across all services
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all issues that the Technology Department staff cannot resolve
  • Serve on Valley Christian Schools' Deans and Directors Leadership Team
  • Adhere to Valley Christian policies, procedures/processes, and codes
  • Performs other related assigned duties

  • Faithfully attends and financially supports a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school
  • Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Must be able to lead a team working within time constraints and within budgets
  • Ability to build, troubleshoot and maintain cloud and local services
  • Ability to build, troubleshoot and maintain automated deployment tools
  • Ability to work independently and with very little supervision, while maintaining humility and a willingness to take direction
  • Ability to build, troubleshoot and maintain secure communications between public and private services
  • Ability to build, troubleshoot and maintain networks running on multiple hardware vendors
  • Must be proficient in all duties throughout the Technology Department
  • Ability to multi-task with organization
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate relationships with outside vendors and businesses
  • Ability to perform project management and drive strategic IT initiatives


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5-10 years of Information Technology experience
  • Each certification in a product related to the job can replace 1 year of experience
  • High School diploma or GED required


Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience working for a rapidly growing company 
  • Experience managing Microsoft 365
  • Experience managing Windows Server
  • Experience managing Juniper Networks, Aruba Networks, and Meraki networks
  • Experience with Aruba Clearpass
  • Experience managing JAMF cloud services
  • Experience with Apple School Manager and the purchase and deployment of institutionally owned hardware


Physical Requirements:

  • Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time
  • Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time 
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds 
  • At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story) 
  • Use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms)
  • Work in noisy and crowded school environment 
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed
  • Frequent walking throughout the campus
  • Must be able to travel in state between campuses, to vendors, and to related events

Salary Description
$65,000-$80,000 Depending on Experience/Education
