Since 1923, Nitterhouse Masonry Products has been manufacturing quality concrete products for our customers and communities. We produce concrete block, brick, pavers, and retaining wall products with a team that takes pride in craftsmanship, reliability, and continuous improvement. 


We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to work closely with our Plant Manager and production team to improve processes, support daily operations, and help drive the next generation of manufacturing excellence. This is a unique opportunity for an engineer-minded individual who enjoys being hands-on, solving problems, and working directly with people on the production floor.


The successful candidate will spend time understanding our processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, supporting quality initiatives, and helping our operation become more efficient and consistent.

 
This is a full-time, on-site position at our production facility in Chambersburg, PA. Remote or hybrid work is not available. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and be able to work on-site daily. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.  


Responsibilities

  • Work closely with plant leadership to support daily manufacturing operations
  • Analyze production processes and identify opportunities for improved efficiency, quality, and cost control
  • Support and improve batching, mix processes, and production consistency
  • Assist with quality control initiatives, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Troubleshoot production challenges and help develop practical solutions
  • Use data and problem-solving skills to improve throughput, reduce waste, and optimize processes
  • Support production scheduling and coordination as needed
  • Collaborate with equipment, maintenance, and production teams to improve reliability and uptime
  • Develop and implement process improvements while considering safety, quality, and productivity
  • Learn all aspects of our manufacturing operation with the opportunity for increasing responsibility over time

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Manufacturing experience helpful but not required; experience in concrete, masonry, construction materials, or similar industries is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with both production employees and management
  • Comfortable spending significant time on the production floor and working directly with operators
  • Strong  organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn manufacturing systems and software
  • Self-motivated, curious, and interested in improving how things are done
