The Mold Operator and Assembly position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining molding equipment used to produce high-quality components that meet customer and company standards. This role ensures that molded parts are produced safely, accurately, and efficiently according to specifications and production schedules. In addition, the operator uses hands, hand tools or machines to assemble parts and products. To do this the individual reviews blue prints and work instructions to produce an accurate work product that meets quality standards, safety requirements and allotted run times while also meeting efficiency and productivity goals of the department while generating minimal waste and maintaining a clean and organized work area at all times

The Mold Operator and Assembly position will work closely with the Production Supervisor-Machinist to monitor machine performance, perform inspections, and support continuous improvement efforts that enhance product quality, minimize waste, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE:

Follow all company policies, safety rules, and quality standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety and Quality Manuals.

Set up, operate, and monitor molding equipment according to work instructions and production schedules.

Load raw materials and unload finished products with attention to detail and efficiency.

Inspect molded parts for defects or inconsistencies and ensure they meet quality specifications.

Make basic adjustments to machines as needed and notify the Production Lead-Machinist of equipment issues or irregularities.

Accurately record production data, job details, and downtime using ERP systems or designated forms.

Keep workstations organized, safe, and clean; dispose of scrap material properly.

Support continuous improvement by suggesting ways to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve safety and efficiency.

Collaborate with other team members to meet or exceed department goals.

Maintain punctual and regular attendance; communicate absences or schedule changes in advance.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor-Machinist.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION - High school diploma or equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE - Minimum one (1) year of experience operating molding, casting, or similar production machinery in a manufacturing environment preferred.

SKILLS - Strong mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of manufacturing processes.

Ability to interpret blueprints, work instructions, and use measurement tools (calipers, gauges, etc.).

Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety.

Capable of following verbal and written instructions accurately.

Basic computer literacy and ability to learn ERP systems for job reporting.

Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

PHYSICAL - Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and handle materials. Frequent use of hands and arms to load molds, operate machinery, and remove finished parts. Must have specific vision abilities including near, distance, and color vision, and ability to adjust focus (with corrective lenses if necessary). Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and communicate clearly in a manufacturing environment.

MENTAL - Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. The position requires the ability to work under time constraints, follow production priorities, and identify and solve basic mechanical or quality issues. Professional conduct, teamwork, and communication with supervisors and peers are essential.
