Position Summary
The Development and Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the Communications and Development areas of the Dioceses by handling writing, editing, development and project management assignments as requested by the Director of Development. This includes developing fundraising letters for campaigns and acknowledgements, updating website content and creating social media posts, as well as other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Director of Communications
- Update website content to support development and fundraising opportunities
- Oversee development of social media and email posts in support of development and fundraising
In collaboration with Director of Development
- Work with Development leadership to create timelines, production schedules, and workflows to ensure timely delivery of campaign materials.
- Coordinate creation and distribution of print and digital assets including emails, newsletters, social media graphics, and landing pages that support Development initiatives.
- Support efforts to oversee branding and messaging across materials.
- Design and produce visual and written content using Canva or similar software for appeals, newsletters, and promotional materials.
- Maintain and update fundraising-related web site pages using WordPress, including donation pages and campaign microsites.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather content and translate it into compelling, mission-aligned communications.
Data Management & Reporting
- Develop ability to analyze data and fundraising/engagement metrics for benefit of finetuning and optimizing communications efforts.
Technology & Process Optimization
- Leverage AI tools to streamline content creation, improve efficiency, and enhance campaign personalization.
Project Management & Operations
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to deadlines and detail.
- Coordinate with vendors as requested (printers, mail houses, digital platforms) to produce high-quality deliverables.
Maintain organized records of campaigns, templates, and assets for future use.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in development operations, marketing production, or related role.
- Experience in a nonprofit or faith-based organization preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Canva or other creative software for design and content creation.
- Experience using Flocknote or similar mass communication platforms.
- Working knowledge of WordPress for website content management.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reporting, dashboards).
- Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., for writing, design, or automation).

Work Environment & Expectations
- Full-time position based at the Catholic Diocese of Memphis, with Temp-to-Hire possibility
