Position Summary

The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining environmental, health and safety programs that send people home safe and well, protects our environment, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position oversees workplace safety initiatives, hazardous materials management, and environmental sustainability programs while fostering a strong culture of safety within the organization. The EHS Manager is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all EHS matters and develop others within the business to increase that expertise. 

Job Duties

Safety & Health Compliance

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ATF, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
• Develop and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures to reduce risks and ensure a safe work environment.
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
• Lead employee training programs on safety procedures, hazardous material handling, and emergency response.
• Manage and maintain records of workplace injuries, near-misses, and safety compliance documentation.
• Perform incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up.
• Develop and maintain Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Develop and maintain Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Develop and deliver required OSHA and EHS training.
• Maintain OSHA, EPA, DOT, and ATF compliance records.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports.
• Create & lead the Safety Committee.
• Maintain chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program.

Environmental Compliance & Sustainability

• Ensure compliance with federal and state environmental laws, including hazardous waste management and air/water quality regulations
• Develop and oversee programs for proper storage, disposal, and tracking of hazardous materials, including lead, solvents, and other chemicals used in firearm manufacturing.
• Implement environmental sustainability initiatives to reduce waste, energy consumption, and environmental impact.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies for inspections, reporting, and compliance verification.

Contractor & Environmental Program Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact and provide oversight for all outsourced environmental compliance programs.
• Manage wastewater treatment contractor performance, compliance, permits, reporting, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate environmental sampling, inspections, and agency interactions.
• Manage environmental consultants and regulatory inspections.
• Ensure contractors comply with FN America EHS requirements. Lead the implementation of environmental compliance programs and propose improvements to environmental strategies, contributing to their continuous development and enhancement.

Emergency Preparedness & Response

• Develop and implement emergency response plans, including fire prevention, active shooter preparedness, and hazardous spill response.
• Conduct regular drills and training sessions for employees on emergency procedures.
• Ensure fire suppression systems, first aid stations, and emergency exits are properly maintained and accessible.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Develop trusted partnerships across all levels of the organization to build EHS knowledge, accountability, and a proactive safety culture through leadership, coaching, and influence.
• Work closely with and coach all teams within FN America to integrate EHS best practices into daily operations and expand our knowledge and awareness as a means of building a safety-first culture.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for EHS-related concerns, offering guidance and solutions to employees and management.
• Construct, document and communicate a comprehensive EHS program.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and regulatory changes, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of seven years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing with demonstrated responsibility for both strategic program leadership and hands-on execution. Previous experience managing environmental compliance programs and contractors is strongly preferred. Previous experience with hazardous material management, industrial hygiene, and safety auditing preferred.

Required:

• OSHA 30 – General Industry
• First Aid/CPR/AED Provider (or obtain within six months)
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
• DOT HazMat Transportation
• RCRA Hazardous Waste Generator Training

Preferred:

• OSHA 511 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry 
• OSHA 501 – Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for General Industry (or willingness to obtain) 
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) 
• First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor 

Working Conditions

Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, chemicals, and noise.

Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to strict safety protocols.

Typical office environment with some travel between buildings and to other locations required.
