Description
Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Technician I is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations by accurately receiving, inspecting, storing, and shipping materials and finished goods. This entry-level position ensures timely and accurate product movement while maintaining safety, organization, and inventory integrity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receiving
- Receive incoming materials and verify quantities.
- Inspect shipments for damage or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
- Label, stage, and store materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Enter receiving transactions into ERP or inventory systems as required.
Shipping
- Pick, pack, and prepare outbound shipments according to customer and internal requirements.
- Generate and attach shipping labels and required documentation.
- Coordinate with carriers for pickup and ensure shipments are staged on time.
Inventory Control
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and report variances.
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) and lot control procedures where applicable.
Equipment & Safety
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as authorized.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety standards, including proper PPE usage.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse in accordance with 5S principles.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic understanding of warehouse and shipping processes.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior warehouse or shipping experience preferred but not required.
- Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variation.
- Ability to work overtime as needed to meet shipping schedules.
