Description

  

Position Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Technician I is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations by accurately receiving, inspecting, storing, and shipping materials and finished goods. This entry-level position ensures timely and accurate product movement while maintaining safety, organization, and inventory integrity.

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Receiving

  • Receive incoming materials and verify quantities.
  • Inspect shipments for damage or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
  • Label, stage, and store materials in designated warehouse locations.
  • Enter receiving transactions into ERP or inventory systems as required.

Shipping

  • Pick, pack, and prepare outbound shipments according to customer and internal requirements.
  • Generate and attach shipping labels and required documentation.
  • Coordinate with carriers for pickup and ensure shipments are staged on time.

Inventory Control

  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and report variances.
  • Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) and lot control procedures where applicable.

Equipment & Safety

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as authorized.
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety standards, including proper PPE usage.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic understanding of warehouse and shipping processes.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior warehouse or shipping experience preferred but not required.
  • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.

  

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variation.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed to meet shipping schedules.
