Registered Nurse (RN) – Adult Services

At Starpoint, our mission is to empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to live meaningful, healthy, and independent lives. We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Adult Services team.
This position combines nursing leadership, regulatory compliance, staff education, and direct clinical oversight in a rewarding environment where relationships matter and every day brings the opportunity to improve lives.
What You'll Do
As the Adult Services RN, you will provide nursing oversight for individuals receiving residential, day, supported employment, and community-based services in accordance with Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF), Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE), and agency policies.
Responsibilities include:
- Complete nursing assessments and develop individualized health care plans.
- Coordinate medical care with physicians, specialists, pharmacies, hospitals, therapists, guardians, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor chronic health conditions and ensure timely follow-up care.
- Review physician orders and ensure accurate implementation.
- Oversee medication administration systems and ensure compliance with QMAP requirements.
- Develop and deliver consumer-specific health care training for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
- Provide specialized care training and competency evaluations for delegated nursing tasks.
- Complete nursing delegation in accordance with Colorado Nurse Practice Act and Board of Nursing Rules.
- Conduct routine health monitoring visits within residential settings.
- Review Medication Administration Records (MARs) and investigate medication errors.
- Participate in incident reviews involving medical concerns.
- Assist with infection prevention and control activities.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide clinical guidance to staff.
- Collaborate with program leadership regarding health and safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with Medicaid waiver regulations, agency policies, and documentation standards.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and nursing documentation.
- Participate in on-call nursing rotation as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Minimum two years of nursing experience.
- Valid Colorado driver's license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Ability to pass required background screenings.
- Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with electronic documentation systems.
Preferred
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Experience with Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS).
- Experience in community health, developmental disabilities, long-term care, home health, or case management.
- Knowledge of Colorado nursing delegation requirements.
- Experience training and supervising unlicensed direct care staff.
