Paso Robles, CA | Serving Santa Barbara & San Luis Obispo Counties

Full-Time | Exempt | Salary $72,000 - $82,000 DOE

This position is based in Paso Robles and supports Club operations throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, including the Santa Maria Valley, Paso Robles, and surrounding communities. Some local travel between Club sites is required.

Our organization operates 14 Club locations, serves more than 1,500 registered members, and positively impacts an additional 4,000 youth annually through community outreach, sports, and arts programming.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced, collaborative, and people-focused Human Resources Manager to lead the day-to-day human resources operations for our growing organization.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Human Resources Manager serves as the organization's primary HR leader, partnering with managers across multiple locations to foster an engaged workforce, ensure compliance with California employment laws, strengthen organizational culture, and support operational excellence.


BGCMCC employs approximately 60 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees and maintains an active workforce of 110–130 employees throughout the year as seasonal programming expands and contracts. This role supports employees working across two counties and multiple Club locations, requiring someone who enjoys building relationships, improving systems, and helping leaders create exceptional workplaces.

What You'll Do

As our Human Resources Manager, you will:

  • Manage all day-to-day human resources operations across the organization. 
  • Build and maintain HR systems and processes that support operational excellence and employee success. 
  • Partner with supervisors and leadership on employee relations, performance management, coaching, and conflict resolution. 
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives to attract and retain exceptional employees. 
  • Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture that reflects the mission and values of Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast. 
  • Ensure compliance with California employment laws, wage and hour regulations, and organizational policies. 
  • Serve as the primary administrator of the organization's HRIS, maintaining data integrity, reporting, ACA tracking, and system optimization. 
  • Coordinate payroll readiness by ensuring timekeeping, approvals, benefit deductions, and employee data are accurate and complete prior to payroll processing. 
  • Administer employee benefits and retirement programs while partnering with Finance, brokers, and retirement plan advisors. 
  • Manage leave administration, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and related compliance requirements. 
  • Analyze HR metrics and workforce trends to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement. 
  • Partner with the Chief Operating Officer to implement strategic HR initiatives that strengthen organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.

  • An experienced HR professional with strong knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). 
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible human resources experience. 
  • Experience in employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment, HR compliance, and HRIS management. 
  • Experience supporting payroll administration and multi-site organizations preferred. 
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is preferred.
