JOB SUMMARY:  

The Food Server/Runner is responsible for set up of Room Service carts/ trays, organize plates, deliver food from kitchen to the guest, explain food items to the guest, deliver amenities and complete side work in In-Room Dining. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Prepares Room Service carts with ordered food and beverage. 
  • Delivers Room Service orders to hotel rooms. 
  • Ensures the guest’s needs are met, by ensuring orders are correct upon delivery and explaining food items to the guest. 
  • Ensures all areas are kept clean. 
  • Properly use equipment, tools or systems to complete assigned tasks and complies with company safety standards. 
  • Develop a working knowledge of any rules, regulations and internal controls applicable to position. 
  • Complete all paperwork in accordance with hotel standards. 
  • Cash handling and/or check settlement  
  • Adhere to and complies with both departmental and overall property policies and procedures. 
  • Picks up trays according to department specifications or upon guest request. 
  • Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft. 
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned. 

SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required 

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English; both in oral and written form. 
  • Interpersonal skills with focused attention on guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts. 
  • One (1) year previous work experience in a comparable position preferred. 
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays 
  • Possess basic food & service knowledge. 
  • Ability to learn and use telephone and POS computer systems used at the hotel. 
  • Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks assigned. 
  • Must know all applicable health standards. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, ordinances and regulations and company policy regarding serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated patrons.

 CA food handler’s card is required or the ability to obtain with the first 30 days of employment. 

 RSB card is required or the ability to obtain with the first 30 days of employment and be minimum of 21 years old. 

Salary Description
$16.90/hour plus gratuity
