Description

The Project Accountant position is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments collected. The Project Accountant position will work closely with Project Managers and Contract Administrators ensuring all relevant financial data has been received and applied to projects. Primary functions are outlined below:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processing and reviewing all payment applications from subcontractors, purchase orders, and incidental invoices for multiple projects
  • Assist CA with new project set up in Procore, Vista, and GC Pay
  • Ensure all subcontractors pay applications and purchase orders are entered in GC Pay
  • Meet monthly with project team to analyze job cost and budget
  • Process monthly owner pay applications; submit all project-specific required back up and track payment status, following up as needed
  • Track Section 3 and Davis-Bacon requirements on applicable projects, collecting monthly forms, certified payroll, etc from subcontractors; update compliance status in Vista to confirm subcontractor is current with all compliance requirements; submit all project-specific files to the appropriate entities (housing authority, DCA, etc)
  • Responsible for weekly vendor payment processing in GC Pay and OneAP, and upload positive pay file to bank
  • Ensure invoice approval process is being followed by project team and payments are processed timely in accordance with contract payment terms
  • Responsible for reviewing lien waivers in GC Pay, as applicable
  • Assist project team with the job closeout process as needed
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with trade partners
  • Assist in the development for new systems/processes for the department
  • Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Senior Management, and Contract Administrators on all aspects of construction accounting
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3-5 years project accounting experience in construction industry required
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Must be a team player
  • Ability to take the lead to initiate new processes
  • Strong communication, organizational, and follow-up skills
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook required
  • Vista, GC Pay, Bluebeam, and Procore software experience preferred
