Job Summary

The Sanitation Associate is responsible for ensuring that all food processing areas, equipment, and tools are cleaned and sanitized according to company standards and food safety regulations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for food production, preventing contamination, and complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), BRC, and HACCP requirements. 


General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean floors, walls, drains, conveyors, and other facility areas using approved chemicals and cleaning tools. 
  • Clean office environments. 
  • Follow sanitation schedules and complete daily/weekly/monthly cleaning tasks as assigned. 
  • Handle and properly use cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, ensuring adherence to safety data sheets (SDS) and PPE guidelines. 
  • Document sanitation activities accurately on logs and checklists. 
  • Inspect cleaned areas and equipment to ensure they meet cleanliness and sanitation standards before production resumes. 
  • Communicate any equipment malfunctions or safety issues to supervisors immediately. 
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance (QA) and Production teams to ensure sanitation aligns with food safety protocols. 
  • Comply with all safety and food safety regulations, including GMPs, HACCP, BRC, and OSHA standards. 
  • Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives related to sanitation and food safety. 
  • Maintain proper storage and organization of sanitation tools and supplies. 
Requirements

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • 1+ years of experience in sanitation, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment. 
  • Basic understanding of food safety principles and sanitation procedures. 
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English instructions and chemical labels. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding, and wet/cold environment.

  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and schedules.
