Director of Finance
Description

The Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the company, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, reporting, compliance, manufacturing and cost accounting, and administration of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and 401k. This leader will partner closely with operations, supply chain, and warehousing to improve profitability, inventory accuracy, working capital, and operational decision-making. Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's objectives.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team.
  • Develop department and company subsidiary budgets, forecasting, and long-term financial planning. This includes developing a statistical report and information to develop and coordinate a sustainable annual budget process.
  • Develop cost reduction and cost containment initiatives. 

Accounting and Reporting:

  • Manage a seamless, timely and efficient month end and year end close. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements due to the BOD by the 10th workday of the following month.
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, and product costing. Ensure accurate standard costs, overhead allocation, labor and material variances, inventory valuation, and margin reporting. This includes identifying at-risk clients and operational cost drivers to help the company maximize revenue and profitability.
  • Reviews, supervises, undertakes training of accounting staff to ensure timeliness and accuracy of billing, payroll, accounts payable, cash collection and inventory accounting. 
  • Ensures the accounting department is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the department goals and objectives. 
  • Prepare and deliver lender required financial reports and updates.
  • Ensures compliance GAAP (as required), banking covenants and regulatory requirements.

Financial Analysis and Management:

  • Analyze financial performance and provide insights to drive business and profitability growth.
  • Manage cash flow, investment activities, and risk management.
  • Oversee financial audits and coordinate with external auditors.
  • Significant experience in acquisition accounting activities including analysis of target financial information, coordination with external auditors and all process from LOI, due diligence, closing and post-closing M&A activities. 
  • Conduct payroll and commission analysis for the sales team to ensure timeliness, accuracy and compliance.

Commercial Insurance and Risk Management:

  • Actively ensures adequate coverages and limits exposure with claims. Ensures quick responses to requests from carriers.
  • Works with customers and vendors to ensure up to date documentation/certificates.
  • Actively manages annual insurance renewals and audits covering all operations, facilities and business segments. 

Health Insurance:

  • Works with HR overseeing health insurance coverage and annual renewals.
  • Works with HR to ensure company is offering competitive benefits.
  • Works to ensure company is proactively researching and implementing the latest benefit trends during annual renewals.
  • Ensure company is in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. 

Legal:

  • Liaison with legal aspects of company as required to meet business requirements of the organization.
  • Review ESOP plan with legal counsel to ensure compliance (as required). 

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with financial laws and regulations.
  • Manage relationships with banks and other financial institutions.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and develop the finance and accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Financial Technology & Operations:

  • Oversee financial and ERP systems, software, master data, and technology to ensure efficiency, accuracy, integration, and reliable reporting across finance and operations. Ideal candidate will have experience in ERP implementation processes.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial processes, ERP controls, reporting standards, and data governance practices.

Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Warehousing:

  • Partner with manufacturing and operations leaders to develop accurate product costs, analyze plant and departmental performance, and improve gross margin.
  • Provide financial oversight of inventory management, including cycle counting, physical inventory, reserves, obsolescence, turns, valuation, and reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and warehousing leaders on purchasing, demand and inventory planning, working-capital improvement, freight, storage, and distribution costs.
  • Establish operational metrics and reporting that connect financial results with production, labor, material usage, inventory, and warehouse performance.

Strategic Financial Oversight:

  • Guide financial policy and direction for the company.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to support overall company goals.
  • Drive initiatives to optimize the company's financial performance and position.

ESOP and 401k Management:

  • Oversee the financial aspects of the ESOP and 401k, including plan administration and compliance.
  • Coordinate with external ESOP advisors and trustees.
  • Manage the valuation process and ensure accurate reporting of ESOP transactions.
  • Communicate ESOP-related financial information to employees and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant ESOP regulations and fiduciary responsibilities.

Knowledge & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA and/or MBA is preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 5 years of Controller-level or higher experience, with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated manufacturing finance experience, including cost accounting, inventory accounting, product costing, variance analysis, and operational performance reporting.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles, laws, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP and financial software systems; experience using ERP data to support accounting, manufacturing, supply chain, warehousing, and management reporting. Ideal candidate will have experience in ERP implementation processes. 
  • Experience partnering with supply chain and warehousing teams, with a strong understanding of inventory controls, purchasing, logistics, working capital, and distribution operations.
  • Experience working with large amounts of data. Working with large files and have the ability to normalize, analyze and scrub large amounts of data. 
  • Experience managing ESOPs or similar employee ownership programs is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in managing M&A accounting and activities is preferred.

Work Environment

The ideal candidate should plan on much of their time to be spent at our company headquarters in Tulsa, OK.
