Physical Education & Health Teacher
GEO Next Generation Academy - Indianapolis is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Physical Education teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a strong background in health education. As a Health & Physical Education teacher you will be responsible for educating students on various health topics and promoting healthy habits.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and school curriculum
- Teach students about various health topics, including nutrition, physical fitness, mental health, and disease prevention
- Promote healthy habits and lifestyles among students
- Assess student learning and provide feedback to students and parents
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a positive and supportive learning environment
- Participate in school events and activities
- Communicate regularly with parents
- Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences
- Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible
- Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff
- This position will also perform the duties of Athletic Director
Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Education or related field
- State Professional Educator or Initial Practitioner certification in Health Education (substitute license not accepted)
- Experience teaching Health & Physical Education courses
- Strong knowledge of health topics and current trends in health education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create engaging and interactive lesson plans
- Passion for teaching and promoting healthy habits
- Ability to manage the duties of an Athletic Director
