We don’t just sell lumber; we Supply Happiness. Drexel is Team Member-owned and community-driven. With six retail hubs and three manufacturing plants across Wisconsin, we’ve been a Top Workplace every year since 2011. Why? Because we hire for heart and train for skill. When you join Team Blue, you aren't just a team member - you’re an owner.
As a Lumber and Structural Estimator your primary objective is to interpret project plans, generate accurate material takeoffs, and compile high-impact quotes for our customers. You are responsible for analyzing blueprints, estimating material quantities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver complete, precise bids on deadline. As the analytical backbone of our pre-construction sales process, you ensure that our commitment to the builder is executed flawlessly from the initial blueprint to the final quote.
- Plan Interpretation & Estimation: Read and interpret floor plans, blueprints, and project scopes to accurately generate material lists and takeoffs for project bids and sold projects using our ERP software.
- Quote Preparation & Routing: Finalize small and large quotes; coordinate with category specialists, purchasing, and the sales team to secure accurate pricing and deliver polished customer presentations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Actively participate in pre-bid meetings with sales teams, market leaders, structural specialists, and purchasing to evaluate project viability and strategy.
- Structural Design & Component Sizing (Growth Area): Utilize engineering and layout software to create floor layouts, tall wall drawings, size headers/structural components, and troubleshoot technical issues on plans.
- Active Communication: Maintain continuous, high-level communication with internal teams and customer touchpoints to prevent errors, resolve plan discrepancies, and meet deadlines.
- Customer & Team Focus: Serve as a reliable point person for project bids, placing customer needs first while fostering a collaborative, win-together team culture.
Performance is measured by your direct impact on our sales conversion rates, estimating accuracy, and project turnaround times:
- Quote Accuracy & Precision: Eliminating material takeoff errors to protect profitability and customer trust.
- Turnaround Time & Deadline Adherence: Consistently meeting bid schedules and delivering quotes under tight deadlines.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Driving seamless communication between sales, structural design, and purchasing to win viable projects.
