Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Member Communications Representative helps keep members informed during outages, planned maintenance and other service-related events. This is a part-time position with a predictable schedule, typically four hours per day between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.


The person in this position:

  • Drafts and sends text messages, phone notifications and other communications to members
  • Provides timely updates during outages and planned work
  • Monitors and responds to member questions and outage-related inquiries
  • Returns calls from members reporting outages or requesting information
  • Tracks member feedback and assists with communication reports
  • Must be able to appropriately handle confidential information and act within the practices established by the Bluebonnet Red Flag policy

Tools and Equipment Used:

  • Office Equipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, etc.
  • May be required to drive a cooperative vehicle
  • According to established business need, must maintain a mobile phone and appropriate communication plan

Physical Demands:

  • Requires repetitive motion of hands and fingers such as dialing and keyboarding
  • Light lifting

Work Environment:

  • Typical office environment, including remote and on-site work during scheduled shifts at Bluebonnet headquarters in Bastrop and the Engineering building in Giddings to ensure proximity to the Control Center
  • In addition to normal business hours, required to work varying schedules, including shift work, call duty, extended hours, weekends and holidays and able to perform rotational 24/7 on-call duties
  • Travels to Control Centers as needed and during Level 2 and 3 events, including on days and times beyond standard workdays and weekends
  • This part-time position is not to exceed 29 hours per week and 1,000 hours per year

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, with a commitment to serving our members
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of Bluebonnet policies and knowledge of Public Utility Commission of Texas rules and policies

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in communications, public relations, customer communications or related field preferred

Licensing and Certification:

  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Certified in CPR, First Aid, AED and Blood-borne pathogens
