Summary
The Product Stewardship Specialist serves as the company’s internal subject matter expert on chemical regulatory compliance. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and international chemical regulations. The role oversees hazard classification, regulatory reporting, and federal and state chemical compliance activities.
Authority
The Product Stewardship Specialist has the authority to perform all tasks and duties as assigned herein. Authority is also granted for the following: Create, edit, review, and approve policy, procedures, and work instructions. This authority also permits any employee at any level to halt a job or task when a hazardous situation appears imminent, or they feel unsafe.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert for internal and external regulatory compliance matters (e.g., commercial processes, staff training, vendor interactions, and customer complaints)
- Oversee the company’s compliance with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) requirements regarding labels, SDSs, and other related paperwork that accompanies our products.
- Work closely with the SDS Software Administrator to review, update, and maintain SDS templates and formats to ensure continued regulatory compliance and system accuracy.
- Remain up to date on federal and state laws related to the organization and update policies accordingly.
- Conduct compliance audits to evaluate adherence to established policies and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee the maintenance and retention of regulatory reports, registrations, permits, and applications for same
- Develop, oversee, and maintain regulatory compliance reference tools for commercial purposes
- Evaluating and developing broader initiatives such as ESG, Responsible Care, ISO 14001, or similar programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in the field of science, or a combination of experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position
- Significant to expert knowledge of major federal regulations such as, IMERC, PFSA, TSCA, PHMSA, EPCRA, OSHA, etc.
- Ability to approach problem solving using innovative ideas and a broad perspective
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other stakeholders with diverse viewpoints
- Experience creating and training others on policies and procedures
- Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals to include international and domestic customers
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- PC proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Travel Requirement
- If remote, some travel to the company’s site will be required
Preferred
- Experience building and implementing a Product Stewardship program
Base salary: $95,000-$125,000.
