The Recruiting Branch Manager - Skilled Trades is responsible for the overall leadership, recruiting performance, operational efficiency, and profitability of the branch. This position leads and develops the recruiting team while remaining actively involved in skilled-trades recruiting, candidate sourcing, customer relationships, order fulfillment, and workforce management. The role ensures qualified skilled-trades employees are placed with customers in a timely manner while maintaining high standards for safety, compliance, service, and employee performance.
Responsibilities
Branch Leadership & Performance
- Lead the day-to-day operations and overall performance of the Skilled Trades branch.
- Manage, coach, train, and develop Recruiters and other assigned branch personnel.
- Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance and results.
- Lead regular branch meetings to review recruiting activity, open orders, customer needs, employee performance, safety, and branch priorities.
- Monitor branch performance, operating expenses, payroll/billing accuracy, and other key business metrics.
- Assume responsibility for the branch's profit and loss performance.
- Ensure staffing coverage and effective utilization of branch resources while minimizing unnecessary overtime.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase branch efficiency, recruiting effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
- Promote a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
Skilled Trades Recruiting
- Lead the branch recruiting strategy for skilled-trades positions and ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.
- Maintain an active network of skilled-trades contacts to identify and source qualified candidates.
- Source and recruit qualified candidates for specific skilled-trades openings.
- Develop and implement recruiting strategies using appropriate recruiting media, referral programs, trade organizations, associations, and community resources.
- Participate in networking opportunities with construction and skilled-trades associations.
- Review candidate experience, training, certifications, and trade knowledge to determine suitability for customer assignments.
- Evaluate candidates with consideration for both their ability to perform required work effectively and their ability to perform it safely.
- Conduct or oversee pre-employment screening and reference checks as required.
- Ensure candidates understand the skills, responsibilities, working conditions, and expectations associated with each assignment.
- Assign employees to customer locations based on skills, experience, safety considerations, and specific job requirements.
- Maintain and continually develop a strong pipeline of qualified skilled-trades talent.
Recruiting Team Leadership
- Set the standard for recruiting excellence and provide daily direction and support to the recruiting team.
- Coach recruiters on sourcing strategies, candidate qualification, order fulfillment, employee management, and customer service.
- Monitor recruiter activity and performance and provide coaching or corrective action when appropriate.
- Provide hands-on recruiting support and serve as backup when business needs require.
- Ensure recruiters maintain accurate, complete, and current employee and assignment information within Avionte.
- Develop the recruiting team's understanding of skilled trades, construction environments, trade terminology, tools, equipment, and customer expectations.
Customer & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers through regular communication and customer visits.
- Develop an understanding of each customer's operation, skilled-trades requirements, safety expectations, and workforce needs.
- Partner with sales leadership to support the acquisition of new customers and expansion of existing accounts.
- Identify opportunities to increase business within the branch territory.
- Ensure customer orders are understood, prioritized, and filled with qualified employees.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and resolve service issues quickly and professionally.
- Provide customer-specific reporting and other business reports as required.
Employee Relations, Safety & Compliance
- Counsel, coach, and take disciplinary action with field/service employees when necessary.
- Ensure branch compliance with PROMAN's Health and Safety Program.
- Develop and implement branch plans and goals designed to minimize workplace injuries and Workers' Compensation costs.
- Maintain working knowledge of construction and skilled-trades safety requirements.
- Ensure recruiting and placement decisions appropriately consider candidate experience, qualifications, training, and ability to perform work safely.
- Support compliance with Unemployment and Workers' Compensation requirements.
- Maintain accurate employee, assignment, payroll, and customer information within company systems.
- Ensure the branch operates in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable employment requirements.

- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred and may be required based on market needs.
- Ability to travel to customer locations, construction sites, and other branch locations as business needs require.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in staffing, recruiting, skilled trades, construction, or a related environment preferred.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting or working with multiple skilled-trades disciplines.
- Previous supervisory or management experience required.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing recruiters or staffing professionals preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of tools, equipment, terminology, and working environments associated with skilled trades.
- Experience with construction safety requirements.
- Experience managing customer relationships and working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing competing priorities and delivering measurable business results.
